Well hello everyone and welcome to the 50th post of The Funky Truth!  Very apt, considering that we are celebrating the slightly more important milestone of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee… a begrudging congratulations to the Royals there…

I’m afraid I have the tin cup out again; I am only two weeks’ away from the Three Peaks Challenge and whereas I have met my target – thanks to everyone who got me there – I want to try to reach £300, not for any particular reason (but 300 is larger than 200).  So if you feel like donating then the link to my JustGiving site is… here (expired, removed).  Thanks!

Preparations are going well.  I’m even made a list (I love lists) of what I need, and this is the current state of affairs;

  • Hiking boots… check.  (Found a 6-year old pair at home)
  • Trousers… check.  (Hiking trousers acquired this weekend)
  • Shorts… check (I own shorts!)
  • Thick socks… (think Mum and Dad said they would find these!)
  • Headlamp… check (courtesy of the Blackpool crowd)
  • Water flask… check (found a big red metal one this weekend)
  • Hiking poles… check (already dented the wall of the apartment with these… they’re bloody sharp)
  • Mars Bars and Snickers… check (4 for a pound in Tescos, got 3 packs of each)
  • Dextro Direct Energy tablets… check (a workmate suggested these, so I’m now tooled up)
  • Waterproof… check (on the way)
  • Rucksack… on the way
  • Pillow… need a Cushtie (they’re awesome)
  • First class train ticket to Glasgow… Check Mate!

So I think I am all set; and the healthy eating is still going well (the stomach bug helped things along a great deal).  That smoothie maker has paid for itself already (today’s guest recipe was the banana, blueberry and strawberry milkshake).  I find myself going to sports superstore ‘Decathlon’ a lot; managed to get lost in there the other day trying to find the hiking section.  Luckily my pedometer GPS app thing managed to chronicle my adventures in the store- unluckily, it makes me look like a drunk.

The Three Peaks is coming up!  And I am as organised as ever.
